Public Relations Manager - Disney Cruise Line

Job Summary:

Provide Public Relations support to proactively tell the story of Disney Cruise Line to external audiences. Assist in developing integrated Public Relations plans that support the overall goals of the businesses. Develop, write and produce communication elements such as press releases, social media posts and videos. Research and respond to media inquiries about the business. Develop content for, and manage the Disney Cruise Line News website. Partner closely with Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club and Adventures by Disney communications teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience in communications and Public Relations. 
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter. 
  • Proven experience and strong understanding of the communications field, preferably in public relations or media relations. 
  • Proven knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines. 
  • Proven experience writing press releases and related communication materials. 
  • Proven familiarity with video production, still photography and social media concepts, platforms and communication strategy. 
  • Experience working with media and a successful track record of placing stories. 
  • Demonstrated storytelling skills, and ability to develop and share creative, innovative ideas. 
  • Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with demonstrated experience meeting quick deadlines and handling comprehensive writing projects with minimal editing. 
  • Proven project management and reporting skills. 
  • Proven budget management skills. 
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail. 
  • Possess the ability to keep information confidential. 
  • Proven experience working effectively under pressure. 
  • Ability to work comfortably with Cast Members at all levels of the company. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and Outlook. 
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and experience handling comprehensive writing projects. 
  • Proven experience in multi-tasking and working on a deadline. 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information. 
  • Demonstrated strong networking skills. 
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often on weekends and after-hours. 
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Disney Cruise Line and the Disney Signature Experiences portfolio. 
  • Extensive project management experience. 
  • Knowledge of the travel industry. 
  • Excellent partnering skills. 
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective communication pieces with minimal editing. 
  • Knowledge and/or experience of working with news media or experience as a news media representative. 
  • Business savvy and relationship building skills. 
  • Event management experience.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field.
