Public Relations Intern

Job Summary:

The UPS public relations intern supports the Public Relations Department by helping increase brand awareness in local, national and international markets through media coverage, content creation, special projects, and measuring the success of PR initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with the development and distribution of materials (blogs, press releases, media pitches, case studies, fact sheets, briefing documents)
  • Create, schedule and load blog post and tweet cards, and manage inventory of blog content using Buffer and Twitter tools 
  • Research information for media requests and special projects; respond to media inquiries or send media pitches as directed by the PR manager 
  • Work with the measurement tools to compile reports using data from multiple sources or blog measurement 
  • Help update UPS Pressroom media kits 
  • Create and/or update executive bios 
  • Research and catalog blogs/publications to pitch articles 
  • Create and edit printable versions of articles for distribution using InDesign

Preferred Competencies:

  • Demonstrate strong creative thinking ability, excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency 
  • Be a self-starter with ability to work independently in a cross-functional environment with tight deadlines 
  • Be able to work full time (40 hours a week) 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 cumulative - Preferred
  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or prior internship experience -Preferred 
  • Pursing a degree in Communications or arelated field of study - Preferred
