Internal Communications Manager

Purpose of Position:

This multi-faceted position helps ensure messaging and strategic priorities are cascaded throughout a complex, global organization. You will create, align and share internal communications strategies and messages across the Company with innovative execution and delivery, support executive communication needs, and serve as an overall brand ambassador for Gilbarco Veeder-Root.


  • Develop and manage communications programs that increase the awareness and favorable image of Gilbarco Veeder-Root among current and prospective associates. 
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, promoting Gilbarco Veeder-Root within our associates’ communities. 
  • Write, edit, and produce all internal communications including company announcements and associate communications, and consistently disseminate across multiple channels. 
  • Support the development of new communication approaches and maintain the content of existing communications materials, with particular focus on internal HR communications. 
  • Leverage innovative technologies to achieve communications goals. 
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and robust use of the company’s intranet platform. 
  • Working with Fortive, help develop social media strategy with the key outcome of attracting and retaining talent. 
  • Consult with third party providers, including graphic designers, public relations firms and communications agencies to develop and implement specific tactics in support of strategic objectives. 
  • Concept and create messaging in support of the worldwide internal communications strategy. 
  • Ensure all communications initiatives are aligned with the Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Fortive brand identities. 
  • Develop a strategic and holistic view of communications plan for GVR connected with overall Fortive messaging and employer brand management. 
  • Play a leading role in developing communications focused on engagement, employee value proposition and social events leveraging a variety of communication platforms. 
  • Partnering to help drive engagement activities with leaders and employees globally.


The successful candidate must be an excellent communicator, intellectually curious and have a strong work ethic. The individual must be an independent thinker and self-starter with the bandwidth to multitask and manage several key projects at any given time. The individual should have the ability to participate in spirited give-and-take discussions about his or her work. Above all, the individual must possess superior interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work with people at multiple levels both inside and outside of Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Fortive.

The successful candidate will:

  • be able to periodically travel domestically and internationally, typically less than 20%

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years’ experience 
  • Event Management experience is preferred 
  • Extensive familiarity of social channels 
  • Self-starter who is passionate about producing high quality content with consistent style and grammar 
  • Ability to write about complex organization issues or programs using human, contemporary language
