Director of User Experience Design
Central and Northeast Florida

In addition to managing a strong team of UX Designers, the Director of User Experience Design must be a compelling storyteller and conceptor, develop and produce strong creative solutions, and foster strong client connections. The Director of User Experience Design must be passionate about user-centered design methods and techniques such as usability testing, competitive evaluation, personas, heuristic evaluation, card sorting, surveys and other related methods.

The position is a key leadership role capable of working with Account Management, Project Management, Strategy, Technology and Business Development to shape new opportunities with current and new client relationships. The position requires a proven track record of exceptional strategic and design thinking, as well as a strong understanding of analytics, information architecture, and marketing in order to create compelling and effective UI/UX for our clients. The Director of User Experience Design will work closely with the executive leadership team to define, set and execute the vision for the agency. The Director of User Experience Design should be firm but flexible, setting the standard for great work, but open on how to get there.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Experience developing a needs assessment, scope of projects and cost models for creative services that will contribute to the P&L 
  • Excellent leadership skills: has a focused vision, motivates the team, and instills confidence that assignments are on track 
  • Participate in the development of information architecture and high-fidelity prototypes 
  • Translate business and project objectives into creative strategies that can be presented and sold to the client(s) 
  • Ability to guide complex projects from initial concept to production and post-launch evaluation 
  • Responsible for building a strong and successful design team 
  • Contribute to the planning and estimation for highly complex projects 
  • Contributes to identifying, managing and resolving risks and issues across engagements 
  • Communicate, document, and represent experience design direction to team members, senior management and key stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with design, development and project management teams to ensure designs communicate and function successfully for varying technical and performance specifications 
  • Coordinate testing efforts, interpret test results, and incorporate results into design efforts 
  • Participate in the development of information architecture and high-fidelity prototypes


  • Degree in design-related discipline (Interaction, Information or Interface design; Design Planning; Graphic Design; Communication Design) 
  • At least 7 – 10 years of experience including experience leading design teams through at least one full product/project development cycle; successful experience in a User Experience Director, Creative Director, Art Director or equivalent role 
  • At least 4 years of managerial and team building experience 
  • Must have been in a client-facing role 
  • Must be an exceptional presenter and take an active role in new business RFP/RFIs and pitches 
  • Must have project experience in working with teams on large scale, long-term projects 
  • Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Passionate attitude with willingness and enthusiasm to own your own growth 
  • Constantly evolving by staying up-to-date on the latest creative, tools and tech innovations 
  • Some travel may be required

Required Skills:

  • Candidates must be well-versed in user-centered design methodologies and techniques and UX wireframing and prototyping 
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), Axure RP, Sketch, Marvel App and/or Invision 
  • Strong visual design skills, think conceptually about design, present excellent problem solving skills, and exercise the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment 
  • Must possess a deep understanding in related creative tracks: design, interactive development 
  • Excellent analytical and process-oriented skills 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 
  • Proactive, creative and logical problem solver who can articulate abstract concepts in concrete ways 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of web, mobile, and other emerging technology
