Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, Georgia is hiring a Director of Public Relations and Communications. This position is a member of the hospital executive leadership team. Also develops and executes annual PR & Communications plan, including owned media, earned media, social media, events and community outreach. Collaborates with Division Marketing & PR VP and AVP to develop an annual paid Marketing plan to complement the PR & Communications plan to drive growth for the hospital’s key services and initiatives.

Additionally, is the spokesperson for the hospital actively driving reputation management and enhancement by securing positive earned media, monitoring online social and ratings sites, and, when needed, managing service recovery through to conclusion in real time. Creates organic written and video content through tight connectivity with key service line leaders and physicians.

Consistently and actively seeks out data and research to inform strategies. Measures success of all activities in order to refine and adjust as needed. Proactively messages activities and key metrics internally to drive leadership awareness and employee morale. Creates dynamic materials, messaging, events and forums that will positively engage the community. Seeks opportunities to innovate how we reach our community. Operates smoothly in a fast-paced, high-intensity matrix environment.

Position Requirements:


  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or similar from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.


  • Requires a minimum of (7) years of progressive, marketing leadership experience. Healthcare experience highly preferred.

Special Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Excel and Power Point. 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills 
  • Experience with data analysis, social media, web and design 
  • Ability to collaborate and demonstrate previous successful experience with service line, business development, and other operations leaders to develop new and existing business in accordance with the hospital’s strategic business plans. 
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of, articulate, and make balanced decisions.
