Position Details

The Copywriter/Editor is responsible for completing assigned copy-related branding projects in both digital and print formats. This position will work with other copywriters, the Marketing Content Manager and Editor, the Senior Creative Manager and the Visual Branding Team to review strategies, develop concepts and provide creative input for proposed content and concepts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Concept and write digital content including emails, website content, blogs, articles, espots and other promotional advertising that meet Advance Auto Parts’ program objectives.
  • Concept and write advertising articles, collateral, direct mail materials, presentations, and other related informative and promotional materials that meet Advance Auto Parts’ program objectives.
  • Concept and write advertising-based copy which may include headlines, subheads and body copy and other promotional offers. 
  • Consult with supervisors and/or other Team Members to evaluate individual project needs and priorities; track, handle, and maintain records of each project element. 
  • Proofread copy to detect errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax, and present copy to supervisors and/or appropriate Team Members for approval; negotiate revisions until approved. 
  • Act as copy style editor to obtain information on products or services, discuss style and length of advertising copy, and act as liaison with other internal departments to help ensure the internal consistency of branding messages and style. 
  • Review advertising trends, consumer surveys, and other data regarding marketing of specific and related goods and services to formulate presentation approach.

  • Proficiency with PC basics, Macintosh computers and design-related programs is a plus
  • Experience with various Content Management Systems is a plus 
  • Experience with online proofing software is a plus 
  • Familiarity with various styles of writing, including digital content 
  • Strong leadership skills to work closely with internal departments and vendors 
  • Industry experience with advertising agencies, design groups, in-house design groups (retail and corporate) 
  • Experience in overseeing branding efforts with large companies 
  • Ability to organize and maintain multiple jobs (both print and digital) simultaneously in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment is required 
  • Demonstrated portfolio experience, must include digital content samples 
  • Demonstrated ability to create materials that drive customer experience and sales results


  • Bachelors degree from four-year college or university; or 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Must have experience in creating various types of digital content, including emails, website content, blogs, articles, etc.


  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


  • Membership in National Advertising or Design organizations preferred.
