Communications Specialist
South Florida
Fort Lauderdale, FL

The right person for this entry-level position will possess a growth mindset and be excited for an opportunity to build skills in both internal (employee) and external (PR) communications. The Communications Specialist will serve primarily as the lead internal news writer and editor, while also developing content and executing strategies for both employee and external corporate communications (PR). You will help create written and visual content for employee communications activities, as well as PR content such as press releases and blogs to highlight Citrix programs that represent our values (corp citizenship, diversity, etc). Working closely with the senior employee communications team (we were named the 2017 Lean Employee Communications Team of the year in 2017 by CEB, now Gartner!), you will “learn by doing” in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where there is no limit to the variety of projects you can work on.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages intranet editorial process and editorial calendar, as well as page updates as needed
  • Writes intranet articles that help employees understand corporate policies, processes and goals; collaborates with employees across the company to produce content, including interviews, research, and coordinating supporting images and graphics
  • Develop content as needed for general employee communications in partnership with the global employee comms team
  • Support corporate comms activities as needed to support amplification of Citrix programs that represent our values (corp citizenship, diversity, etc) by writing content such as press releases, blogs and key talking points
  • Drive traffic to intranet via weekly emails, newsletters and Slack posts
  • Proofreads drafts for correct spelling and grammar; verifies accuracy of data reported; coordinates and monitors design and production schedules
  • Organize and analyze communications metrics to improve decision-making and assure the team reaches key quarterly and yearly goals


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field; participation in university-level professional writing/editing courses is preferred 
  • Internship experience in employee comms, marketing or PR is preferred 
  • Superior copyediting, writing and proofing skills; demonstrated competency with English syntax and grammar; knowledge of AP style rules 
  • Fast learner who can easily digest and execute after simple trainings in areas such as web development, Google analytics and Slack 
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Internet research 
  • Experience with technology preferred; ability to absorb technical content and repurpose for a variety of communications vehicles 
  • Good verbal communications skills perceptive and comfortable interacting with managers and staff on various business and employee communications issues 
  • Ability to remain organized and detail-oriented in a quickly changing environment 
  • Strong interest in marketing, PR and/or employee engagement preferred 
  • Proficient in basic level graphic design, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (or willingness to learn) 

The position reports to the senior director of employee communications.
