Position Details

Communications Specialist, NoveList
The Triangle
Durham, NC

The Communications Specialist creates, edits, and writes digital marketing communications with the goal of expanding the demand for NoveList products and services. Manages the production of several customer-facing e-newsletters and also writes and publishes content on social media channels. The Communications Specialist must be a skilled copywriter and editor.


  • Write clear, engaging copy for newsletters, website, and social media that contributes to the department goals of increasing awareness, increasing usage, and generating leads. 
  • Manage the production of regularly published e-newsletters. 
  • Create and edit online documents using content management system(s). 
  • Select and create appropriate accompanying graphic images. 
  • Create documents, presentations, and other materials as needed. 
  • Maintain detailed product knowledge, including understanding of future enhancements. 
  • Coordinate activities with other team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 1 year experience related to communications. 
  • 1 year experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). 
  • 1 year experience HTML and using a content management system. 
  • 6+ months experience with Adobe Photoshop or other image editing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment. 
  • 6 months experience working or volunteering in a public library, or equivalent knowledge. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks; strong organizational and project management skills. 
  • Prefer understanding of libraries, readers’ advisory, and library marketing.
  • Prefer prior experience with NoveList products.
