Our students come from five counties, Rutherford, Polk, Henderson, Buncombe and Cleveland. Lake Lure Classical Academy is a 30-minute drive to Asheville and Hendersonville. We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, thorough, and organized communications manager to join our school leadership team. In this position, you will ensure that the school communicates across a variety of platforms in a consistent, accurate, professional and prompt fashion with all its stakeholders: parents, students, teachers, feeder schools, partnership schools and the wider community in Lake Lure and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop an annual communications plan, covering all aspects of interaction between and among students, parents, teachers and the community 
  • Develop content for social media, the school website, press releases and any other distribution channels 
  • Create presentations, articles, brochures and information for inside sales use. 
  • Collaborate and brainstorm with other members of the school leadership team on new ideas and strategies 
  • Work with Executive Director, Board Chair or designees to coordinate budgets, deadlines, objectives and schedules 
  • Serve as a member of School Crisis and Safety Team with responsibility of coordinating dissemination to media and public relevant information in a crisis or other event, done in collaboration and direction of the Executive Director, or Designee. 
  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual media activity reports 
  • Plan, create, and oversee the design, content, and production of promotional materials 
  • Develop strategies for current and existing products, launches, and promotions 
  • Identify media and press opportunities

Job Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business, or related field; master’s degree a plus 
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, PR, or related field 
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for campaigns across multiple platforms 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills 
  • Ability to multitask and monitor several projects and accounts on a daily basis 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively 
  • Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas for social media. 
  • Excellent media relations skills 
  • Knowledge of “how schools operate,” in particular LLCA-CFA and charter schools 
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
