Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing

The Athletic Department is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing. This position will be responsible for the vision and direction of marketing all 16 Division I athletic teams at High Point University. The successful candidate for this position will effectively engage and involve the student population to drive student attendance at HPU Athletic events; increase and manage ticket sales and attendance through development and implementation of season ticket campaigns, group sales, and single game tickets; actively solicit new corporate sponsorships and help manage the execution of all corporate partners; manage all aspects of game day marketing and promotions to maximize the fan experience; increase Community support and involvement to brand HPU as High Point's TEAM.

Essential Functions:

Fulfill sponsorship contracts and assist with cultivating sponsorship opportunities by identifying new corporate sponsors for solicitation and helping to manage existing relationships

Work with the Deputy Athletic Director to manage all season ticket sales

Implement advertising campaigns for specific sports including ticket sales

Promote athletic events utilizing campus e-mails, campus TVs, flyers, social media, campus and student organizations

Design Marketing Department materials for sport programs

Oversee all marketing game day operations:

  • Write and oversee game scripts including the timeline for band, dance and cheer 
  • Direct on-court promotions and coordinate crowd giveaways with sponsors 
  • Orchestrate video board graphics and audio 
  • Schedule and organize live National Anthem performances, halftime acts, and special presentations 
  • Create and maintain a safe, fun, and enjoyable atmosphere in reflection of the university's image and consistent with Big South Conference and NCAA rules and regulations 
  • Work with community groups, guest acts, and large groups to entertain and enhance game day atmosphere 


  • Supervises Marketing Department employees, interns, and student workers


  • Bachelors degree in Sports Management, Business or related field or equivalent experience required 
  • Masters degree in related field preferred


  • Minimum 2 years of sales/marketing/development experience required 
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing, college athletics and revenue production required 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in NCAA Division I Athletic Department preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Strong interpersonal skills required 
  • Ability to work with others Top-notch customer service skills and commitment to fan experience 
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with potential sponsors and donors 
  • Ability to design marketing materials; proficient in use of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Ability to think creatively and act independently 
  • Strong oral and written communications skills 
  • Ability to manage a flexible schedule, including travel and attendance at all home and select road athletic events
