Summary

Position Purpose:

You will be responsible for helping guide Financial & Risk Management Solutions (FRMS) to rapidly grow marketing-contributed pipeline in 2017 and beyond, optimizing sizable growth potential in key markets by ensuring Fiserv customers and prospects have access to the right content in the right place at the right time.

The ideal candidate is a driven marketing leader who can establish and articulate a clear master content strategy across six lines of business with 20 solutions and ensure its effective execution.

Working closely with six Product/Field Marketing teams in the business unit, the Director, Content Strategy has indirect matrix oversight of all US-based content development activities, including agency-developed content. The Director interfaces with outsourced agencies and contractors, and concepts and creates a significant amount of content individually.

Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product/Field Marketing and Sales teams to develop master content strategy and calendar across multiple platforms, formats and personas to drive sales, engagement, retention, qualified leads and positive customer behavior 
  • Map content to the buyer journey; set priorities for filling gaps 
  • Serve as the BU expert for content and channel optimization 
  • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels including online, social media, email, mobile, video, print and event. This is to be done for each buyer persona within the enterprise 
  • Oversee and create content including: thought leadership opinion pieces, white papers, internal and external customer case studies, videos, campaign and direct marketing copy, social media content, blog posts, sales decks and more 
  • Own web content, working closely with Product/Field Marketing and Digital Marketing Manager to understand content effectiveness on an ongoing basis 
  • Continuously monitor market and evolve content strategy as necessary to remain relevant – leverage market data to develop content themes/topics; periodically audit competitor content 
  • Work with Product/Field Marketers and Demand Gen/Creation to regularly conduct A/B testing to optimize content effectiveness 
  • Identify up-sell and cross-sell opportunities through content analysis and deploy content 
  • Manage copywriter, oversee agencies/contractors and coach/mentor Product/Field Marketers on best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, style and format 
  • Supervise content inventories and tracking 
  • Develop standards, systems and best practices (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, and maintenance; establish workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing and retiring content 
  • Determine success metrics, reporting requirements, audience and cadence, then implement 
  • Ensure compliance with copyright and other legislation 
  • Manage other strategic projects and activities as assigned
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. Relevant equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirement

Job Related Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of B2B (business to business) technology content creation experience 
  • Experience marketing to the Financial Services industry preferred 
  • Experience with long-form content creation and real-time content creation and distribution strategies and tactics 
  • Experience working in a matrix environment

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

  • A combination marketing/publishing mindset with a deep ability to understand the customer, what information they need and how they want to consume it 
  • Outstanding writing/editing skills and storytelling ability 
  • Ability to clearly articulate the business goals of each piece or series of content 
  • Ability to manage editorial schedules and deadlines with extensive approval cycles 
  • An understanding of the latest platforms and technology tools 
  • Strong MS Word and PowerPoint skills 
  • A proven ability to measure and understand what content works and why

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel approximately 2-3 times per year
